Bijan Vaez is a seasoned Senior Executive and Entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in software, hardware, and professional services. He is currently working as a Venture Partner at Antler, a global startup generator and early-stage VC that is building the next big wave of tech. In this role, he connects with the most promising new founders in Canada to provide them with the support needed to build and scale their ideas. Prior to joining Antler, Bijan founded EventMobi in 2009, a leading event technology SaaS platform that is now used by 15,000+ customers in 70+ countries around the world. For eight years, he led Product, Engineering, and Design teams as the company’s Chief Technology Officer. He played a key role in building the company from the ground up, utilizing innovative architecture and engineering practices to scale a small engineering team for rapid growth. Under his leadership, EventMobi achieved multiple honors and awards, including being listed on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 in Canada and Fast 500 in North America, and recognition as one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers in 2018. Bijan started his career as a Product Marketing Engineer for AMD, and was part of a team that built an award-winning medical iOS app that enabled cataract self-diagnosis. He holds a BASc in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto, and was nominated for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2015. Apart from his professional work, Bijan is an active speaker and writer. He has spoken at various conferences and meetups, and has written on Medium. He also advises a variety of early-stage cutting technology startups and helps them with his expertise.
