Suhail Khan is a Financial Crimes Data Scientist at Ugam (A Merkle Company) with a passion for data science and a focus on Graph Databases in BFSI. With over 4 years of relevant experience, Suhail has worked on various projects in the telecom, healthcare, and entertainment industries, taking a data-driven approach to solving complex business problems. Currently, Suhail is working with the financial crimes data science team at Ugam to build customer networks in order to facilitate fraud and AML investigations. He has also worked on building end-to-end big data processing ETL pipelines to analyze network element data from telecom devices. As a graduate student consultant, Suhail has experience in the healthcare and entertainment industry, where he took a data-driven approach to solving complex business problems. Suhail is a story-teller who loves to create order out of chaos. He has expertise in data munging and transformation using R, Python, and PySpark, and data visualization using Tableau, PowerBI, and PowerPoint. He is also skilled in big data and cloud technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Flume, Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Hive. His database management skills include MySQL, and he is well-versed in various techniques such as clustering, association rules, Gaussian mixture models, neural networks, random forest, decision tree, XGBoost, ARIMA, SVM, text analytics NLP, stemming, lemmatization, topic modeling, TF-IDF, and prescriptive analytics such as recommender systems and hypothesis testing through experiments (A/B testing). Suhail's current role at Ugam involves minimizing the institution's risk as a result of failure to comply with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations by building consumer networks that capture various relationships like joint account owner, trust, beneficiary using Spark Graphframes and HiveSQL. He has also facilitated the customer due diligence team by building automated data pipelines and Graphframes-based functions in PySpark to investigate various high AML risk individual and commercial customers. Suhail has helmed the project to build visualizations of entity networks using PowerBI for a non-technical audience. Suhail's past experience includes working as a Data Science Intern at Ecolab, where he applied agile methodology to project processes by team coaching, monitoring progress, and facilitating adaptations. He built a dashboard using PowerBI to identify trends in health, hygiene, and food safety violations by restaurants from health department inspection data.
