Mayank Agarwal is a distinguished architect at Splunk, where he leads the development of cutting-edge technologies and solutions for log analytics and machine learning. With nearly 15 years of experience in the software industry, Mayank has a proven track record of designing and implementing innovative products that solve complex problems and drive business growth. Prior to joining Splunk, Mayank co-founded Omnition, a startup that was acquired by Splunk. As the CTO of Omnition, he played a pivotal role in developing a cloud-native distributed tracing and observability platform that helped enterprises gain visibility into their complex microservices-based applications. Earlier in his career, Mayank worked at VMware as a senior staff engineer, where he was responsible for architecting and engineering Log Insight, a scale-out on-premise log analytics product that delivers real-time log management and analytics, with machine learning-based intelligent grouping and high performance search. He built major features and drove major improvements to scale-out, ingest, query, and machine learning subsystems and to overall operational reliability of Log Insight. He also helped operate and troubleshoot Logs-as-a-Service offering for internal teams at VMware. Mayank also successfully prototyped a fully featured large-scale multi-tenant SaaS version of Log Insight that could be offered publicly. He incubated a v1 SaaS-based performance optimization product and successfully transitioned it to a fully funded R&D product. Mayank holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he conducted research in the areas of distributed systems and cloud computing. He also holds a Master of Science in computer science and a Bachelor of Technology in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Mayank's technical expertise includes senior software engineering, machine learning, and search.
