Aaron Hnatiw is a highly experienced Principal Security Engineer with over 9 years of experience in the field. Currently, he is working at ecobee, an IoT company, where he is responsible for developing custom security tooling to solve unique threat models, guiding the security roadmap, performing internal security assessments, and mentoring other security engineers. He also works with product development teams to ensure that security is built into every stage of development. In addition to his current role, Aaron has founded and led Omniprismatic Inc., a software security company that provides products to make security easy, at scale. As the Founder & CEO, he was responsible for setting the long-term strategy for the company and products, as well as the day-to-day operations of the company. He designed and developed their first product, Recon++, which passively discovers internal and external software applications and APIs, bypassing all the usual barriers to their discovery. Aaron is also a member of the MicroFocus Fortify Technical Advisory Board, where he provides feedback and customer insight into the Fortify roadmap of application security products and services. Aaron's educational background includes a Diploma in Computer Technology/Computer Systems Technology from Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology, a BS in Computer Science from Athabasca University, a Diploma in Computer Programming from Georgian College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Ottawa / Université d'Ottawa. Aaron's technical skills include web development, testing, Kubernetes, and Docker. His expertise and experience make him an exceptional security engineer who can solve complex security problems and guide the development of secure products.
