Aaron Leong is an experienced Software Engineer with a strong background in both front-end and back-end technologies. He is currently employed at Intuit as a Software Engineer, where he continues to hone his skills and expand his knowledge. With over 6 years of relevant experience, Aaron has worked for various companies, including IBM and The Scripps Research Institute. At IBM, Aaron was responsible for feature planning and Kubernetes cluster maintenance for an in-house product that served an IBM sales and installations unit consisting of over 200 members. He also converted a NoSQL backend proxy into a full-fledged restAPI to improve flexibility and security. Additionally, he wrote the authentication function to allow employees to log in to an application using IBM single-sign-on. Aaron has also worked on and debugged deployments for OpenShift/Kubernetes, including Nginx and Webpack configurations. He led a small team to create a desktop offering of a pre-existing product using Electron and created a light CLI for Watson Data Refinery using Facebook’s Draft.js with syntax highlighting and auto-complete features. He has implemented product features for customers using front-end technologies such as React, Redux, and Webpack. At The Scripps Research Institute, Aaron worked as a Web Development Intern for The Su Lab. He introduced a 2.5x speedup of MongoDB collection merging in Python using multiprocessing and query optimization. He also used the Google Analytics API and Google App Engine to deliver usage statistics to visitors of mygene.info. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego.
