Aashish Patel is an upcoming Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Walmart, with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He is highly passionate about Machine Learning, Data Science, Natural Language Processing, and other roles in Deep Learning. With almost two years of relevant experience, Aashish has worked with various technologies such as Pytorch, Tensorflow, Pandas, and Numpy. Currently, Aashish works as a Machine Learning Intern at Eigenlytics Data Solutions, where he has contributed significantly to the optimization of the image pre-processing part of the OCR pipeline. He has also used Deep Learning-based Generative Models to improve the readability of low-resolution document images using the concept of Super-Resolution. Aashish has developed a command-line utility to train the SR-GAN model for 2x, 4x resolutions, and super-resolve test images for different resolutions. Aashish has a strong understanding of transfer learning, which he has used to extract features from an image and fine-tune ResNet18. He has also worked on pre-OCR document classification methods, implementing and fine-tuning ResNet18 and VGG16 for the task of document classification and achieving an accuracy of 92% on RVL-CDIP test dataset using an ensemble model of ResNet18. Aashish has also developed a command-line utility to train the model to different regions of the page and then make a combined prediction for the task of document image classification. Prior to his current role, Aashish has worked as an Academic Mentor at Counseling Service and served as the Secretary of Programming Club at IIT Kanpur. Aashish is a highly motivated individual with a strong passion for technology and a desire to make a difference in the world.
