Abe Diaz is a Principal Technical Product Manager at Amazon, where he works on disaster relief efforts by providing logistical assistance, technical resources, and teams of volunteers. With over 12 years of experience in delivering software solutions and influencing change, Abe is a technical program/product manager, technical evangelist, and community builder. He is knowledgeable in agile methodologies, product direction, technical systems design, and product road-mapping. Abe has experience in mobile application development, large enterprise applications, and service-oriented architecture. He has a strong technical background with attention to detail and offers a unique combination of strategic problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. Abe has analytical skills as well as a keen eye for “mobile-focused” user experience design. A transplant to the Seattle area, Abe has a recently re-ignited love for the outdoors. When he's not participating in a meetup or organizing a workshop, he's probably at a new restaurant or travelling. Abe has built strong working relationships with coworkers and customers and is highly effective in global and cross-functional environments. He is an event organizer and previous board member of non-profits and other organizations. Before joining Amazon, Abe worked at NBCUniversal Media, LLC, as a Mobile Apps and Devices Program Manager, where he was responsible for all non-Web based platforms (e.g. iOS, tvOS, FireTV, Roku, etc.). Prior to that, he worked at Microsoft as a CS - Program Manager Tech, where he owned the publishing relationship between the OEMs, Mobile Operators, and the Windows Phone Update Team. Abe understood and communicated operational trends, uptake, and mission-critical errors blocking users from upgrading their devices. He gathered requirements and drove delivery of new feature requests for the “Request for Update” submissions process. Abe proposed and drove new tools and features to improve current and future products related to the Microsoft Windows Phone Update Platform. He coordinated new feature roll-outs, tracked dependencies, resolved conflicts, identified and mitigated risks to ensure quality was met, including testing and deploying on schedule. Abe holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (Software Engineering) from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez and a Master of Science in Information Security from Lipscomb University.
