Abhay Gupta is a highly skilled Graphics Architect with over 5 years of experience in the field. Currently, he works as a Senior GPU Architecture and Modeling Engineer at Samsung SARC | ACL, where he primarily focuses on shader and texture development. In his current role, Abhay evaluates and implements new architectural features, performs performance modeling and debug on C++ clock-driven simulator, and identifies issues with the compiler. He has also developed tools to identify hotspots in GPU programs, identify canned patterns in programs, and manually schedule instructions with automated register allocation. Abhay has filed a patent on Opportunistic write-back discard of single-use vector register values. He has also proposed HW changes to reduce traffic, power, and improve performance. In addition, he provides performance estimates by prototyping in arch model and provides power & area estimates. He performs ISA updates to ensure the GPU architecture is up-to-date. Prior to his current position, Abhay worked as a Senior GPU Performance Engineer at Samsung SARC | ACL. In this role, he developed a multithreaded python framework to project GPU performance by exhaustively evaluating different combinations of throughput of units inside the GPU. He also debugged benchmarks in C++ clock-driven model to improve performance and proposed driver, compiler, and hardware changes to improve performance in benchmark by 5.5%. Abhay holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Florida, and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering & M.Tech in Power Electronics from IIT. He completed his 12th and 10th from Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School and Barnes School Deolali, respectively.
