I got an early opportunity to move near the headquarters in Germany where I'm currently working on the transition of extremely complicated on-premise data pipelines to big data processing in the cloud

Major responsibilities:
- Derive the requirements of big data pipelines based on codebase of legacy systems
- Convert the existing row based data manipulation(using SQL) logic to Map-Reduce compatible logic
- Design efficient algorithms for converting semi-structured data to structured data
- Coordinate with product owners and data engineers across several departments to derive solutions for common problems
- Most importantly, take ownership of my work

I worked in a big data analytics team, which provides a unified framework for Big Data log file analytics of various modalities. Few of my responsibilities were:

- Improving log file analytics framework based on Spark
- Creating and monitoring big data ETL pipelines in Spark and Scala
- Performance testing and tuning Spark applications on Azure HDInsight clusters
- Scheduling the Spark Jobs using Oozie
-  Write code using functional programming paradigm, while adhering to Behavior Driven Development

My work was involved with adding security to an OpenStack based cloud and develop a web interface for an ML-based tool using Django, Bootstrap and jQuery. It helped me in sharpening my Linux skills and gave a better hands-on experience in Cloud Computing. Used Nessus professional to routinely monitor remote systems for vulnerability and generate report for the same.
