Abhirup K. is a highly motivated software engineer with expertise in computer vision and machine learning. He is currently working as a Machine Learning Engineer at Lab Systems (I) Pvt. Ltd. where he has developed a Document Image Analysis Tool with OCR for Handwritten Text Recognition and a prototype for Traffic Monitoring using Image Processing and Object Detection Algorithms. Abhirup has also developed a pipeline for object detection using architectures like Faster-RCNN and YOLOv3, and modularized the entire codebase by following Object Oriented Programming principles. He has used the Keras framework for the project with TensorFlow backend, and other major libraries used were OpenCV, Numpy, Matplotlib, and scikit-learn. Abhirup has completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology from the University of Mumbai in 2020. He got started with Machine Learning and Deep Learning back in summer'18 and subsequently grabbed an internship at a cyber forensics company Lab Systems. He worked with computer vision applications for document forensics and real-time surveillance. Abhirup spends most of his time reading and implementing research papers. He is intrigued by the work happening currently in Indian startups around Deep Learning and also looking forward to working with them. He likes the amount of responsibility, ownership, and mentorship that comes with roles at startups at speed which facilitates faster learning and quick feedback around work.
