Abigail B. Colodner is an accomplished writer and editor with a passion for making complex content accessible and engaging to the general public. With over a decade of experience in the field, she has developed a keen understanding of how to use plain language standards to make health and arts content more useful and inclusive. Currently serving as a Content Strategist for Mental Health International at Teladoc Health, Abigail is committed to creating more equitable access to resources that enrich people's lives. Her work in this area is driven by a strong belief in the importance of social justice, particularly when it comes to ensuring that everyone has access to the arts, health resources, and community. Prior to her current role, Abigail worked as a Freelance Editor and Writer for the Latin American Montessori Bilingual Public Charter School. In this position, she edited parent handbooks and web content to adhere to plain language standards, and edited monthly newsletters for parents and the broader school community. Abigail also served as a Senior Project Specialist and Plain Language Editor at NAMI, where she created and edited content for use in nationwide peer-led educational programs. Her work involved rewriting three national peer-led educational program manuals to align with plain language standards, making them easier to understand, more accessible, and more useful. She also created a standard format and style for the department's program manuals, and conceptualized and researched new educational program script and worksheet content to make national materials more culturally humble and inclusive. Abigail holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan, where she studied Art History and Journalism. She also attended Hunter College High School, where she completed her high school education. Abigail has experience with web technologies and has been working in the industry for over 9 years. Overall, Abigail's passion for articulating complex ideas, focus on inclusion, and collaborative approach make her a powerful wordsmith and advocate for equitable access to resources that enrich people's lives.
