Adam Walz is a highly skilled and experienced CTO and Co-Founder of Butter.ai, which was acquired by Box. He currently works as a Staff Engineer in Search at Box. With over 12 years of relevant experience, Adam is an expert in Search, AI, and Senior Software Engineering. As the CTO and Co-Founder of Butter.ai, Adam was responsible for architecting the Butter service to be scalable, secure, and easy to build upon. He also played a crucial role in hiring the best talent for the growing engineering team, guiding product strategy and technical specification, producing a high cadence of feature deployments, and ensuring reliability and quality of service for all users. Adam views his role as CTO as foundational to the entire organization, always striving to design the Butter.ai architecture in a way that makes the jobs of everyone around him easier so that they can produce their best work. Adam is proficient in several technologies, including Python, Machine learning frameworks like Scikit-learn, Spacy, NLTK, Numpy, Scipy, Solr, ElasticSearch, Lucene, Postgres, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, Python Flask and AsyncIO AioHTTP Web servers, Docker, Kubernetes, SaltStack, Terraform, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Prior to Butter.ai, Adam founded and served as the CEO of Mangabi, a Platform as a Service (PaaS) allowing developers to quickly build full-featured frontend applications on a solid and secure backend by removing all the boilerplate that goes into database infrastructure, security, and deployment. Mangabi was marketed toward web and mobile developers and designers as a code-free environment to store application data, deploy live with one click, and view application insights through the Mangabi analytics dashboard. Adam holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Utah and completed his high school education at Juan Diego Catholic High School.
