Addy Osmani is a highly accomplished Senior Staff Engineering Manager at Google, where he leads Chrome's engineering teams focused on activating the best of quality web applications through developers at scale. As Head of Chrome Developer Experience, Addy is responsible for reducing the friction to test, debug and optimize web applications in the developer's preferred web technology and tooling stack. His work involves leading some of Google's projects to help how quickly Chrome loads pages, shaping APIs, and defining best practices to help large sites deliver great user experiences. Prior to his current role, Addy was a Senior Staff Software Engineer (Manager) and Staff Developer Platform Software Engineer & Manager at Google. In these roles, he was a technical lead and manager for a team in Chrome focused on improving speed and user-experience on the web. His teams focused on a combination of standards, tooling, and library projects for reducing the friction for building success on the web. Addy holds a Master's degree in Computer Science by Research from the University of Warwick, and has continued his education through courses in Design for Security and Platform and Application Security at the University of Oxford. He also holds a BSc in Applied Computing & Software Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University and has studied Software Engineering / Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield. In addition to his work at Google, Addy is also a renowned author and speaker in the tech industry. He has written several books on web development, including "Learning JavaScript Design Patterns" and "Developing Backbone.js Applications". He is also a frequent speaker at industry conferences, sharing his expertise on web development and engineering leadership.
