Aditya Shekhar
Senior GNC Engineer, General Aeronautics
About
Aditya Shekhar is a Research and Development Engineer at Noccarc with over 3 years of experience in the field. Currently working as a Research and Development Intern at Penn State University, Aditya is responsible for microstructure analysis and grain growth modeling of Nickel-base superalloy parts produced by the Directed Energy Deposition (DED) process using SPPARKS, a Kinetic Monte Carlo Simulator. He has also developed Python scripts to determine the real-time temperature variation at the locations of thermocouples in the DED of Ti-6Al-4V parts via modifications of the Rosenthal's solution. Aditya has incorporated virtual heat source pairs to characterize the cooling effect in past layers and mirrored heat sources to characterize adiabatic boundary conditions and substrate thickness. He has also developed Python scripts to determine instantaneous properties at the solidification front of the laser heat source's melt pool in the DED of IN718 parts for different scanning patterns. Aditya has incorporated 4 heat source models in the scripts which solve for their transient state solutions. In the past, Aditya has worked as the Powertrain Team Head at Team Kart where he spearheaded the powertrain team in the designing and manufacturing phase of the FSAE project K4. He has also led the drivetrain team in the preparation and presentation of the design report for the Design Event of Formula Bharat 2019. Aditya has designed a Planetary gearbox for the team's maiden Electric Vehicle, calculated the gear bending and wear stresses based on AGMA standards followed by the validation of the results by performing FEA in ANSYS and KISSsoft software. He has also designed an involute-splined electric motor shaft for the EV, performed fatigue failure analysis due to bending and torsional stresses, and validated the results in ANSYS. Aditya has negotiated machining quotations worth INR 50,000 with two machining companies in India to manufacture the parts for K4, saving INR 30,000 from the allotted budget. Aditya has completed his Bachelor's in Manufacturing Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2020. He has also completed his High School education from Delhi Public School, Bokaro Steel City in 2016. Aditya's tech stack includes Research Scientist, Python, and test. With his relevant experience and technical skills, Aditya is a valuable asset to any organization he works
