Adnan Mahmud is a highly skilled Sr. Engineer with expertise in Materials Science, Reliability, and Failure Analysis Engineering at Cisco. He holds a PhD, MS in Electrical Engineering, and another MS in Materials Science & Engineering from Arizona State University, with a focus on semiconductor device physics, silicon process technologies, and materials characterization. Adnan is a hands-on engineer with years of experience in failure analysis and material characterization at both the component and system level. He is proficient in various analytical techniques used for debugging and fault isolation, including precision sample prep, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy, scanning acoustic microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, 2D/3D X-Ray for virtual cross-section/computed tomography, dye & pry, electrical analysis using bench-top testers, emission microscopy, cleanliness testing, and shadow Moiré for warpage measurement. In addition, Adnan has previously used or taken help from external service labs and has sufficient understanding of techniques such as Auger electron spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry, Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry, X-ray fluorescence microscopy, microindentation testing, thermogravimetric analyzing, differential scanning calorimetry, strain gage measurement, dynamic mechanical analyzing, and bondtester for bond pull/ball shear test.
