Ahmar Jamal is a Senior Data Engineer at H-E-B with over 20 years of relevant experience in the field of data engineering. He has a strong background in designing and deploying successful enterprise data integration platforms and has worked with various big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive, ORC, Yarn, Sqoop, and Pig. Ahmar has a proven track record of delivering successful projects throughout his career. At Amherst, he converted legacy SQL Server ETL to PySpark/Python on HDFS using ORC file format and partitioning. At General Motors, he developed a Hadoop YARN Queue Management software to enhance YARN’s dynamic resource allocation capabilities on Hortonworks Hadoop. At HP, he led the consolidation of 300 non-standardized Informatica repositories on 700 PowerCenter installs, providing a hosted solution on a single standardized clustered platform in less than 2 years. Ahmar is an excellent communicator and has the ability to connect with people. He can step out of technical mind flow to weave abstract thoughts into a strategy. He has also taught several Shell Scripting, Ab Initio ETL, and Performance Tuning classes offered through Dell IT Learning and HP IT, designing lectures and labs for classes averaging 35 developers.
