AJ Palkovic is a highly experienced Full Stack Software Engineer with a strong focus on Front End web development. He is currently working as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Discord. AJ has a proven track record of success in the industry, having worked with some of the biggest names in tech, including Dropbox and Google. During his time at Dropbox, AJ served as a Staff Software Engineer, where he was responsible for leading the technical strategy, decisions, and processes for Dropbox Paper. He helped grow and scale the engineering team from just five engineers to over 100 committers in 2018. AJ also created and led a platform team to improve engineering effectiveness for Dropbox Paper, including projects like migrating to a new developer environment, embracing better test frameworks like Jest, introducing better development APIs like graphql, and painfully upgrading to React 16. His contributions to the product included building prototypes to demonstrate how far the product could be pushed, building out developer tools and APIs, and managing the relationship and contract with third-party vendors that support the engineering team. At Google, AJ worked as a Senior Software Engineer in Search Eval, where he helped prove that changes to search results actually make Google Search better. He was promoted twice in just over two years and was on track to be Staff Software Engineer. AJ was also the Team Lead for all of the Search Eval UI efforts, and his contributions included designing and leading development of a system to help human raters become more skilled and work through difficult rating questions. AJ holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Villanova University.
