Ajay Bhutani is an accomplished engineering professional with over 17 years of experience in the technology industry. Currently, he serves as the Engineering Lead for Google Spanner in India, where he actively hires smart engineers and engineering managers to work on interesting problem statements on their planet-scale relational database. Prior to joining Google, Ajay held several leadership positions at top-tier companies such as Ola, Freecharge, Snapdeal, and Amazon. As the Head of Technology for Ola Financial Services, he was responsible for driving the company's tech functions, including consumer apps, payment gateways, wallet, merchant products, platforms, risk management, data, IT, infra, DBA, IT security, and audit. During his tenure as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Architect at Freecharge, he led a team of over 200 engineers across Gurgaon and Bangalore, defining a unified cohesive payments architecture for the company and driving the culture of technology-led product innovations. Ajay is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, where he earned a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science and Engineering. He also holds a degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT. Additionally, he completed his schooling from MVN Public School.
