About
Ajay Chhatwal is a research and development engineer with over 11 years of experience in software engineering and leadership roles. Currently working as a Software Engineering Manager at Arista, he leads a team of software engineers focused on developing forwarding plane software for Arista switches based on Broadcom's StrataXGS Trident/Tomahawk ASICs. He has also led forwarding plane software development for Arista's fastest and densest switches, Arista 7368X4 and 7060X4, both based on Broadcom's Tomahawk3 ASIC. Ajay is primarily focused on memory management, flow control, and Quality of Service (QoS), and advises customer engineering teams with multiple cloud titan deployments. He works on buffering and flow control characterization for some of the largest cloud network deployments in the world. He is also involved in release management, project management, mentoring, and intern supervision. Prior to his current role, Ajay worked as a Master's Research Scholar at the Department of Computer Engineering at IIT (BHU), where he completed his Master's dissertation entitled "A Macroprogramming Approach to Application Development for the Internet of Things." He investigated and proposed techniques for the development of applications for systems comprising the "Internet of Things‟ i.e. systems with a large number of heterogeneous inter networked devices. He also collaborated with the ARLES Project Team at Paris-Rocquencourt centre of INRIA - the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control. Ajay has also worked as a Research Intern at INRIA Paris-Rocquencourt, where he worked on a research project entitled "Supporting Application Development for the Future Internet of Smart Things and Services." He developed programming abstractions and software implementation for integrating techniques from pervasive computing and wireless sensor networks domains in order to enable the specification, development, and deployment of Internet of Things applications. He performed evaluation of the software implementation on a hardware testbed. Ajay holds a B.Tech & M.Tech degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi. He has a strong tech stack that includes skills in senior software engineering, research science, software engineering, and web development.
