Ajay Hegde is a Computer Science Graduate Student at Stony Brook University with a keen interest in building resilient, secure systems for consumer products with resource-constrained innovations. He is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Computer Science, with his coursework including Distributed Systems, Analysis of Algorithms, and research under the guidance of Prof. Erez Zadok in the File Systems & Storage Lab. Ajay has experience working in an agile environment and is well acquainted with the corporate culture. He spent a considerable amount of time at Western Digital (Sandisk) in the Enterprise SSD Firmware Engineering team for NVMe-based devices. Later, he worked in the Software Tools team as a Senior Software Engineer for SD-based products. During his time at Western Digital, he was responsible for features like SD Command Queue, Secure Firmware download, and SD Host Log. Ajay also completed critical features such as model simulation support, data tracking, and diverse tools integration. He submitted an innovation to utilize wasted heat in various storage products to delay device throttling and sustain performance for a longer duration. Ajay participated in a companywide Hackathon in 2021 and built a GUI-based visual testing tool for an easier ramp-up of new joiners and to reduce inter-team dependencies. He received We-Collaborate, We-Are-Customer-Centric, and We-Deliver-Excellence awards in the organization. Ajay is actively looking for internship opportunities for Summer 2023 in research and development roles in the Systems domain. He is experienced in C++, C, Python, and Golang. Along with his work experience, Ajay has also worked as a Research And Development Intern at ADVA Optical Networking, where he devised multithreaded SNMP trap receiver and system log collector tools for the Ensemble solution at ADVA for the in-house OpenDaylight-based SDN controller. Ajay holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from Manipal Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Computer Science from Stony Brook University.
