Ajay Mahajan is a Chief Systems Architect with over 22 years of IT experience, including 17 years as an architect. He enjoys being hands-on in solving non-functional challenges in mission-critical large systems in banking and retail, with a good understanding of Clearing and Settlement in Investment banking and breadth of Retail domain. Recently, he has started working on the payments domain. Ajay has a strong depth in various technologies from integration, application to data. He has worked on large transformation programs in various roles, including Developer, Tech Lead, Solution Architect, Program Architect, Domain Architect, Lead Architect, Enterprise Architect, Digital Architect, and CTO of retail to his current position as Chief Systems Architect. He has interfaced with Management, Architecture and Project teams within the organization and customers, and has led a team of architects on various programs. Ajay's achievements include putting a lot of systems in production, defining digital strategy, and improving the performance and resilience of mission-critical applications by 5x to 8x. He has presented technical topics such as Rules engine in Open source contribution, a patent on customer journey identification and authored a paper in IEEE on performance optimization in bandwidth-constrained scenarios. Recently, he co-authored a book on cloud-native Java applications. Currently, Ajay is working as a Chief Systems Architect at Visa, responsible for the next generation architecture of the core payment processing platform. His charter includes technical solutioning, including automation, integration, resiliency, self-healing systems, working with architects at other locations, and guiding and enabling the development teams. In his past roles, Ajay worked as the Chief Technologist - Retail at Wipro, where he was responsible for strategy definition, architecture solution, and technology selection for new-age customer problems. He also worked as a Digital Architect, part of the core digital team, on setting a digital strategy for a large Ireland bank. Ajay's tech stack includes Senior Software Engineer, Integration, Java, Microservices, AI, NoSQL, Kafka, Web, Spring Boot, Spring, and Infra. With almost 24 years of relevant experience, Ajay is a seasoned IT professional with a strong track record of delivering successful projects.
