Ajinkya Mulay is a PhD candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University with a focus on privacy-preserving Machine Learning, Differential Privacy, and Federated Learning systems. He is also a Research Scientist at OpenMined, where he is involved in developing automated Machine Learning algorithms. Ajinkya's academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Hyderabad, where he conducted research internships at the Esaki Lab at the University of Tokyo and the NeWS and LFOVIA labs at IIT Hyderabad. He has also worked as a PhD Software Engineer Intern at Facebook and as Head of Machine Learning (Graduate Research Assistant) at Purdue University, where he designed algorithms to examine the effects of parameter uncertainty on statistical power and identified regions of robustness/reactivity in specified parameter values over a high-dimensional parameter space. In addition to his academic and research work, Ajinkya is also an active blogger and developer of open-source applications. He enjoys rowing and strength-training in his free time.
