Ajinkya Sonawane is a Software Engineer II at Microsoft, currently working in the IC3-ModernProvisioning team in Hyderabad. He is a passionate backend engineer with a keen interest in making the "impossible" possible. Ajinkya has experience working with high-scale services, handling up to 6 million requests per peak hour. In his current role, Ajinkya has designed, developed, and rolled out features that assign voice-related capabilities to over 200 million monthly active Teams users based on their subscriptions/licenses via a new cloud-based provisioning service. He has actively worked on increasing the performance of the service by implementing caching, batch-processing, and re-structuring the event execution flow. Ajinkya has also designed and implemented a framework to relay events (~30 million per day) to downstream services in a GDPR compliant manner, preserving the sequence of events and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery. He has developed a framework to check the integrity of data in the main CosmosDB and added a platform-level feature to facilitate re-processing of events. Ajinkya has also worked on a full-stack project as part of the User Provisioning Portal Team, displaying user's HR details on the provisioning ticket. Prior to Microsoft, Ajinkya has worked as a System Software Engineer Intern at NVIDIA, where he worked on automating power consumption monitoring of GPUs and power profiling of GPUs of different families. He has also worked as a Research and Development Intern at Sterlite, where he worked on decoding phone numbers and optimizing costs incurred during call routing. Ajinkya has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering and Biology/Biological Sciences, respectively, from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. He also attended Wisdom High International School. Ajinkya's tech stack includes Software Engineering, Backend, and Research Scientist.
