Akhil Gupta is a skilled Data Scientist with a passion for translating data into compelling narratives. With 2.87 years of relevant experience, he has developed a package in Python called DMM (Dirichlet Mixture Models) for short-text topic modeling. He has also improved recommendation accuracy through a self-developed algorithm, which was tested on J&K terrorism data. Akhil has accurately formulated the dream team for fantasy sports events and contributed to the enhancement of inventory control systems to mitigate the mismatch of demand and supply, using LSTMs for forecasting the demand and EOQ models for tracking adequate supply. Currently, Akhil is working as a Senior Data Scientist at Shelf Engine, where he is responsible for developing and implementing machine learning models to optimize inventory management for grocery stores. Previously, he worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Walmart, where he worked on developing algorithms for optimizing store layouts and predicting customer behavior. Akhil holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Industrial Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. He also completed his AISSCE in Computer Science from Delhi Public School, Noida. During his time at the University of Illinois, he worked as a Graduate Research Assistant, where he collaborated with Prof. Lavanya Marla to solve some of the challenging problems in the Airline Industry with the help of AI/ML techniques. Akhil is a skilled team player and a responsible leader who easily gels with people and extracts the best out of them. He is proficient in Data Science, Research Science, ML, Python, and AI.
