Akshay Chaudhari is a Research and Development Engineer in the IC engine domain of the automotive industry with a strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience of 2.5 years in IC engine development. He specializes in 3D and 1D IC engine CFD simulations in the area of in-cylinder flow, fuel spray, and combustion simulation. He has proposed improved designs of IC engine components, namely intake port and piston, using CFD and Optimization technology, to meet stringent emission norms within strict mass production schedules. Akshay has technical expertise in Python (Scipy, Numpy, Cython), CATIA V5, VECTIS (3D CFD), GT-SUITE/WAVE (1D CFD), and HEEDS (Design Exploration/Optimization). He is driven by the joy of his designs coming to life and is keen to make an impact in the Indian automotive sector. Currently, he is working as a CFD Manager at Bajaj, responsible for 3D and 1D engine simulations of 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, and quadricycles. He is tasked with performance prediction, acoustics prediction, and in-cylinder flow evaluation to develop correlation between CFD parameters and test results. He has also developed an automated process for running 1D Wave and 3D ESICE setups and is developing a machine learning model for prediction of engine-out HC, CO, NOx emissions from 3D CFD images of TKE, velocity, temperature, equivalence ratio, etc. Prior to Bajaj, Akshay worked as a CFD Engineer in the Engine Department at Honda R&D Co., Ltd. where he was tasked with 3D and 1D CFD simulations for analyzing in-cylinder flow and fuel injection. He proposed fuel injector, intake port system, and piston designs using CFD and Optimization technology targeting minimum emissions to meet BS6 emission norms. He also developed an emission (HC, PM/PN) prediction model using test and CFD results. He gained insight into the working of the production line holding a capacity of manufacturing up to 800 world-class automobiles per day through hands-on training in white-body inspection department as an Engineering Trainee at Honda R&D Co., Ltd. Akshay holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from IIT. He completed his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Sardar Vallabhbhai
