Akshay Dekate is a Co-Founder and CEO of Quoality, a hospitality guest experience platform that helps hotels digitize their processes, increase profitability, and offer an elevated guest experience. He is a graduate of Army Institute of Technology, Pune, with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. With a strong belief in the “learn by doing” motto, Akshay has spent most of his time building open-source hardware and software, working with startups, leading sustainable engineering efforts, and doing research. Akshay has 8.53 years of relevant experience in the field of research science. He is a tech advisor for Newschecker, a multilingual fact-checking initiative that aims to curb misinformation and fake news. As a technical advisor, he advises and determines the technical direction and interventions of the fact-checking team and leads and guides all technical development on behalf of Newschecker. He is also a Co-Founder and CEO of Kontext, a company that builds non-intrusive in-store customer engagement and analytics solutions to help brands and stores engage customers with contextual content when they interact with products and get pre-purchase insights about customer behavior. Kontext is part of AIM Smart City Accelerator and backed by Microsoft Ventures India, Dalmia Bharat Group, D-Labs, and Holostik Group. Akshay’s education has been mostly self-directed, with only 10% of his education coming from the classroom. He believes in soaking up information in any way he can and spends most of his time building open-source hardware and software. He is a graduate of Army Institute of Technology, Pune, with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. He completed his 12th from Kendriya Vidyalaya Southern Command, Pune. Akshay is a strong believer and promoter of the “learn by doing” motto, and his profile reflects his passion for science and engineering.
