Akshayraj Axy is an AI enthusiast and researcher at Saama. With a strong background in AI, ML, and NLP, he has achieved state-of-the-art results in five AI leaderboards, securing first place in uncertainty and negation. He has also created and open-sourced more than six attention-based transformer models based on cross encoders. Akshayraj has worked on several ML/NLP projects involving huge medical datasets, including clustering of medical documents, predictive modeling of the efficacy of patients in clinical trials, understanding patterns and trends, and inference and generative modeling. Prior to joining Saama, Akshayraj worked as an ML researcher/developer at Advantech Hearsight Labs, where he collaborated with Zee TV to develop an AI-powered wearable device that helps visually impaired people. The product has four AI-powered state-of-the-art models that work completely offline. He also worked with the Tamil Nadu and Kerala Forest and Railway departments on various AI-centered wildlife saving and man-animal conflict avoidance projects. At Impiger Technologies, Akshayraj worked as a research development software engineer, where he collaborated closely with the ministry people of the Uganda government to develop data mining and insight gathering solutions that can help them manage and process administrative data. He analyzed data from multiple sources from small-scale industries and people groups of Uganda and supported the Uganda government to get significant insights and infer decisions from the high volume of unstructured data. Akshayraj holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from the United Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing a Master of Technology in Data Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, which is expected to be completed in 2023. With 1.36 years of relevant experience, Akshayraj is a highly skilled AI researcher and software engineer with expertise in AI, research, ML, NLP, and software engineering.
