About
Alay Deliwala is a self-motivated MTS Software Engineer at Salesforce, with a passion for all things tech. He is a problem solver who is obsessed with improving the experience for developers at Salesforce. Alay has worked on multiple projects that have directly slashed development cycles, improved test reliability, and saved money. He has a deep understanding of developing on Kubernetes and Cloud Providers, as well as being an AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate). Working in a small semi-structured agile team has allowed Alay to expand his skills by developing UIs, CLI tools, cloud-native applications, and his favorite, nifty automation tools. He has also served as the VP of technology Desi Dance Network, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit seeking to empower artists, increase diversity, and challenge mainstream norms. Prior to Salesforce, Alay graduated Summa Cum Laude from NC State University with a B.S in Computer Science. While at school, Alay served as a computer science department ambassador, had his research related to computer science education published, organized one of the largest annual South Asian A cappella competitions on the east coast, Sangeet Saagar, and also was the president of the South Asian Student Association at NC State (EKTAA). At Salesforce, Alay has designed and deployed a Kubernetes-based platform enabling Salesforce services to send notifications (3M+ daily) via Slack, Email, and other mediums using AWS, ArgoEvents, Kubernetes controller & CRDs. He has also implemented a GitOps configuration management tool to streamline notification producer onboarding with validations, authorization, and automation. Additionally, he has developed a subscription management tool with over 250 daily users, written in Node.js with Lightning Web Components (LWC) and an API written in Golang integrated with Swagger. He was also selected as a finalist for the company-wide hackathon - Trailblazer NFTs. Alay has worked as an AMTS Software Engineer and Software Engineering Intern at Salesforce, where he developed and deployed a Kubernetes-based browser automation solution that supports 1M+ daily sessions, modernizing Salesforce’s approach to Selenium UI testing and resulting in $10M in annual savings. He has also built a test result dashboard using Flutter and a CLI tool utilizing Go & Cobra/Viper, and troubleshot and deployed services in AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes clusters.
