Alejandro Nijamkin is a highly experienced Senior Staff Software Engineer with a career spanning over 16 years. Currently, he is working at Google as a Senior Staff Software Engineer in the Android System UI team. Alejandro's expertise lies in software engineering, with a focus on Android, UI, and Mobile technologies. Before joining Google, Alejandro worked at Meta/Facebook as a Software Engineer and Technical Lead of the Home & Interfaces pillar at Portal. During his tenure, he revamped the technical review process, matured engineering culture around testing, experimentation, and UX quality, and provided technical direction/leadership to about a dozen teams, mentoring a similar number of TLs. He also explored the use of server-side rendering and code sharing with the FB Messenger team to enable velocity at scale for Portal calling features and teams. Alejandro has also worked at Google in various roles, including Technical Lead for Notifications and Messaging at YouTube, Client Engineer for Ingress at Niantic Labs, and Android Developer for Google+ Photos. He has acted as a technical lead on many shipped product features in the apps and has owned spam & abuse reporting in version 1.x of Google+ for Android. He has also re-skinned the entire UI prior to the launch of Google+ for Android. Alejandro holds a B.S. Summa Cum Laude in Computer Science from California State University, Northridge, and a High School Diploma and AA in CS from Ort Gutman High School.
