Alessio Basso is a highly experienced technologist with a strong background in the banking sector. He is currently working as a Principal Architect for Digital Native Business ASEAN at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Alessio is responsible for helping ASEAN's Unicorns use AWS Cloud services to build highly scalable and innovative applications, including digital banks, payments for e-commerce and OTA, credit decisioning, and fraud detection using graph analytics. Alessio's expertise lies in designing and delivering complex software solutions, including solution architecture, product management, systems integration, and management of dev teams. He is skilled in using technology to deliver products that are scalable and evolvable, and excels in bridging strategy with tactical technology planning. Alessio is particularly adept at creating a "path-to-live" based on resources, time, and other constraints. Alessio's most recent experiences are in mobile payments/wallets, such as Samsung Pay and Payme from HSBC, and multiple apps/API integration, such as WeChat. Prior to joining AWS, Alessio worked as the Chief Architect for PayMe at HSBC, where he was responsible for designing and delivering the technology behind PayMe and PayMe for Business, which now has over 2.5 million users in Hong Kong. Alessio also has experience as a Product Development Manager for Asia at New Access, where he hired and led a team of mobile and web frontend developers and UI designers to create a Wealth Management/Suitability/Financial Planning solution. Alessio holds a Master's degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from the Università degli Studi di Padova. He is a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in AWS, web and mobile integration, product management, UI, and frontend development.
