Alex Earll is a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) with a passion for working with new and emerging technologies and integrating them into real-world applications. With over 4 years of relevant experience, Alex has already made a significant impact on several companies and helped deliver solutions to effectively address customer needs. In his current role at AWS, Alex works as a backend SDE, focusing on designing and developing customer-facing tooling using Python for content distribution. He has successfully reduced the time of content availability from 48 hours to 6 hours over the course of 3 months. He has also integrated new features into existing systems by analyzing them, proposing design solutions, and implementing them end-to-end using Java and AWS step functions. Alex participates in the on-call rotation and proposes solutions to prevent recurring issues and reduce operational load. He has also trained and onboarded new team members through hands-on training and documentation of existing systems and processes. Prior to AWS, Alex worked for dropship.co and Obsidian Bot, where he coordinated and executed the technical vision for a startup product that enables e-commerce stores to integrate with US wholesale suppliers via an online web app. He also created a cloud-based trading system to easily deploy and execute trading strategies for Obsidian Bot, which operates at 1/15th the cost of competitors by using a serverless architecture written in C#. Alex has won several awards for his work, including placing 1st in the tech category of the Northwest Entrepreneurship Competition and receiving Best Financial Tech Company and 5th place at the Collegiate Business Plan Competition. Alex holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington and has experience with AWS, software engineering, web development, Python, AWS Glue, CI/CD, Java, integration, backend development, infrastructure, and Javascript.
