Alex Joseph is an accomplished engineering leader with over 18 years of experience in designing, building, and operating data storage platforms. Currently, he serves as an Engineering Leader for Cloud SQL MySQL at Google, where he leads the development of the database kernel team with a focus on security and cloud controls. He also guides the evolution of control plane and data plane changes to support multiple major and minor versions. Alex is passionate about coaching engineering and support functions to scale high-touch customer engagements by building feedback loops. Prior to joining Google, Alex held various leadership positions at LinkedIn, Facebook, Zynga, and Yahoo. At LinkedIn, he served as an Engineering Manager for MySQL, where he led and managed the team responsible for designing, building, and operating MySQL as a service platform. He also designed a Query Analyzer tool that provides trend analysis of database usage via packet capturing and built an online schema change tool. Before that, Alex was a Senior MySQL Engineer at LinkedIn. Alex's education history includes attending Carmel Garden School. His technical expertise lies in SQL, MySQL, and Senior Software Engineering.
