Alex Scott is a versatile software engineer with a diverse work experience and a passion for linking the esoteric with the practical. He is currently working as a Software Engineer at Standard Cognition and has expertise in Javascript, Python, React-Redux, React Native, Node.js, SQL, HTML5, CSS3, and Git. Alex's work experience is varied, having worked as a barista, bike mechanic, translator, teacher, and software developer. However, he has always been interested in the abstract rules that govern complex systems and has a love for detail-oriented design. He is also insatiably curious, particularly concerning the technological and linguistic tools that can enable communion across culture and geography. Before joining Standard Cognition, Alex worked as a Graduate Student Instructor at the University of Michigan, where he taught Arabic to undergraduate and graduate students and collaborated with a team of teachers to implement new web-based curriculum. He was recognized as an exemplary graduate student instructor after the first year. Alex has also worked as a Freelance Translator at Industry Arabic, where he translated Arabic-English and took on research-intensive projects, often involving religious and legal terminology.
