Alexey Karapetov is a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with over 18 years of relevant experience in building APIs, frameworks, and libraries. He is passionate about software quality, Test-Driven Development, and Domain-Drive Design. Alexey is an expert in refactoring old monoliths into decoupled cohesive modules and architecting scalable greenfield projects with CI/CD and close to 100% code coverage. He is particularly interested in building projects in Dart/Flutter. Currently, Alexey is working as a Senior Software Engineer at step, where he is an individual contributor responsible for Backend/fullstack development using Kotlin, PostgreSQL, Typescript, React native, and large distributed systems in GCP. He has designed, implemented, and deployed a new distributed service to combine low-level transactions into user-friendly representation, which became one of the core system services and created a single source of truth. In the past, Alexey has worked at PayPal as a Member Of Technical Staff, where he discovered and fixed several data validation vulnerabilities, implemented new features, participated in on-call rotations, and led the effort to improve code architecture and quality. He has also worked at Adobe as a Software Architect, where he oversaw and implemented critical security features/migrations, set quality and release documentation standards, architected/established CI/CD workflows for the UI framework, and designed and developed Data Abstraction Layer to decouple UI components. Alexey holds a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics from the Institute of Informatics and a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (Technical University).
