Ali Dowair is a software engineer currently working at Kasten, where he is involved in building storage solutions for Kubernetes. With over 3 years of experience in the field, Ali has a keen interest in learning from everyone and everything around him. His approach to leadership is centered around leading with generosity and paying it forward. Prior to Kasten, Ali worked at Nutanix in a QA role for the "Acropolis" Nutanix hypervisor team, where he was responsible for testing a number of features. He also worked on the Insights Data Fabric team, where he was involved in building the distributed database that powers Nutanix's management plane. As a software engineering intern at Nutanix, Ali worked on a research project to develop a global write-ahead log (WAL) for RocksDB, a key-value store. He also participated in an intern hackathon to develop IRIS, a filesystem in user space for Zeus, an internal Nutanix service built on Apache Zookeeper. Ali holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, where he graduated in 2020. Prior to this, he completed his Cambridge AS and A Level from the New English School in 2016. His technical skills include software engineering, Kubernetes, QA, and research science.
