Alwin Jose is a highly skilled and experienced Engineer with over 8 years of relevant experience in the field of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Ocean Engineering at Texas A&M University, Alwin is also working as an Intern at the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). At ABS, Alwin has developed and validated a simplified Wind Turbine analysis tool using Orcaflex and Python. He has also learned software Xbeach and implemented tools for use in ABS for nearshore terminal projects. Prior to this, Alwin worked at Keppel FELS Ltd as an Engineer in Naval Architecture. Here, he was responsible for stability engineering, maintaining Autohydro stability models, advising ballasting for site operations, and conducting deadweight surveys. Alwin also served as the Lead Engineer in Naval Architecture for a fleet of 5 Transocean Drilling Jack Up Rigs. He championed weight monitoring of vessels during the design stage with other Engineering sections, advised ballasting and stability during major lifting operations, preloading, and undocking, and issued all stability-related documents and drawings with approval from ABS and the client. Alwin actively participated in several inclining tests, cantilever load tests, and deadweight surveys, modeled the conceptual design of a floating dock with a lifting capacity of more than 30,000 MT, and performed a weight comparison study of 53 Keppel FELS B-Class design Jack Up rigs. Alwin holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and a Master of Science (MS) in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is also currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University. Alwin's technical skills include Python, and he is well-versed in using software such as Orcaflex and Xbeach.
