Alyssa Quek is a full-stack software engineer with a passion for modular development, automated deployment, and continuous integration. With over 12 years of relevant experience, she has a solid background in Python, Javascript, Golang, and C++. Alyssa is also a computer vision enthusiast and has dabbled in image processing, feature extraction, and machine learning. Currently, Alyssa is a Senior Software Engineer at Apple, where she has built a single-page client app and Python API in just two months. The app allows users to upload and download Salesforce CSV files and execute machine learning models for sales predictions. The client app was built using mithril.js, ES6 Javascript, mocha tests, browserify, and stylus, while the Python API was built with Flask, nosetests, and AWS RDS for Postgres. Alyssa deployed the app to AWS S3 with CircleCI, and the CSVs are stored in S3. She also deployed the Python API to AWS EC2 with CircleCI and Ansible. Prior to her current role, Alyssa worked as a Software Consultant at Newcleus, where she built a similar single-page client app and Python API with a data scientist. She also worked as a Computer Vision Consultant at Revolution Analytics, where she implemented image processing and feature extraction components with Python openCV and numpy. Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Information Technology (First-Class Honours) from the University of Sydney, where she majored in Computer Science, Graphics & Multimedia. She has a diverse tech stack that includes AWS, ML, Research Scientist, Data Scientist, Salesforce, CI/CD, Integration, SVM, Neural Networks, and Golang. Alyssa is an advocate of Richard Feynman's quote, "Fall in love with some activity and do it! Nearly everything is really interesting if you go deeply enough. Work as hard and as much as you want on the things you like to do best." She is also an active Github user and maintains a blog where she shares her experiences and insights.
