Amal Byju is an Engineering Intern at Clinical Ink and an MSIS student at the University of Maryland. With a passion for becoming a Data Scientist, Amal loves analyzing data and writing codes. He believes that data is the world's most valuable resource and telling a story with data is a structured approach for communicating data insights. Amal has published two papers in the fields of machine learning and data communication to International Conferences titled as “Logistic Regression based DFS for Trip Advising Software (ASCEND)” and “An Improved and Reliable Sequential Decoding of Convolutional Codes”. He has also worked as a Software Engineer Intern - Data Transformations, where he developed a dashboard on Grafana that analyses resource usage of running Apache Spark applications in clusters via Spark sinks, facilitating the company to rearrange processes and optimize resource usage. Amal's skills cover important facets in the fields of data analytics, statistics, ML, and programming. He is actively looking for exciting opportunities in the same. Additionally, he created an ensemble of InceptionV3 and Densenet121 CNNs which segregate COVID patients from other patients with a greater accuracy (95.4%) as opposed to 93% and 94% accuracies of the component algorithms. Amal's education history includes a Bachelor of Technology - BTech in Computer Engineering from NIT Surathkal and a Master of Science - MS in Information Systems from the University of Maryland, which he is expected to complete in December 2022. His tech stack includes Spark, ML, Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Research Scientist, and Databricks. Amal has 3.35 years of relevant experience and has previously worked as a Data-Driven Consulting Fellow at Latimer Ventures.
