Aman Khandelwal is a Software Engineer at PhonePe, where he works in the Merchant Solutions team. With over 7 years of relevant experience, Aman has a strong background in developing large-scale distributed systems. He is an expert in Kafka, Apache Samza, Stream processing, ETL pipelines, and Python. Prior to joining PhonePe, Aman worked as a Senior Software Engineer at MoEngage, where he designed an event-driven finite state machine based architecture for Flows to track user behavior and visualize end-to-end customer journeys. He also developed Apache Samza based real-time streaming jobs that processed 15K user events and 5K user attributes per second. Aman was a core member of the team responsible for upgrading Kafka from v0.8.2 to v1.1.0. He upgraded all streaming pipelines from Samza v0.11.0 to v0.14.1 and migrated them to new Hadoop YARN cluster while maintaining consistency and reliability without any downtime. Aman also set up and maintained Hadoop YARN clusters for all streaming pipelines and set up Druid + Superset based monitoring systems for streaming pipelines. He was awarded the "Rising Star" for outstanding performance for the term 2017-18. Aman's previous experience also includes working as a Software Engineer at Myntra, where he developed ETL pipelines to aggregate different types of data from various sources to serve SCM Inbound in-house applications including analytics dashboards, pricing management, advertisements, and buy-assist systems. He also worked with the pricing team in the Data Science department for dynamic pricing, adaptive discounting, MRP prediction of in-house brands, scripting, and developing ETL pipelines. Aman holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. He completed his high school education at Modern School Kota - India and started his schooling at Sir Padampat Singhania School.
