Ameya Khasgiwala is a seasoned tech leader with over 16 years of experience in managing large B2B, B2C, and B2B2C internet products in the e-commerce, finance, and marketing industries. Currently, he is the Group Manager at Rakuten, one of the largest internet companies in the world, where he manages Rakuten WebSearch for Japan and Taiwan. In this role, Ameya supervises a mini-organization and provides strategic product direction while managing the roadmap and budget (P&L) for Rakuten WebSearch, which generates revenue of ¥30 billion JPY and provides search capabilities, news, and information portal directly competing with Bing and Yahoo. He closely works with the Marketplace team and designs strategies for the Marketing Unit, Data Business, Advertising, and Cash Back teams at Rakuten. Ameya's past experience includes working as a Senior Product Manager at Rakuten, where he led the team managing the WebSearch product for Japan and Taiwan markets offered in partnership with Google on PCs and Bing on mobile platforms. He also worked at PayPal, where he led the core payment product, i.e., the "Checkout" button, which facilitates all transactions on PayPal irrespective of platform, currency, and country. He successfully led the rollout of Cross-Border and Multi-Currency payments owning to all the regulatory requirements of the respective regions across the globe. Ameya holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management and NUS Business School, specializing in Business Administration and Management, General, and Organizational Leadership, respectively. He is well-versed in various tech stacks, including Search, Web, product management, Android, iOS, and Mobile.
