Ameya Patil is a highly motivated and accomplished Ph.D. student in Computer Science with a keen interest in Interactive Data Analytics, Information Visualization, and Computer Graphics. Currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Washington, Seattle, Ameya is working in the Interactive Data Lab under the guidance of Dr. Leilani Battle. He is passionate about understanding how people perceive visualizations and leveraging advancements in graphics and database systems to create scalable visualization systems for large-scale data. Ameya's ultimate goal is to use big data visual analysis systems for environmental sciences, facilitating faster analysis for environment scientists and improving accessibility for the common people. He is currently working as a Research Intern at INRIA, where he is studying progressive bar charts and creating more effective designs for the same. Prior to this, Ameya has worked as a Research Assistant at Fraunhofer USA Inc., where he worked as a Java developer on the Pocket Security project, collecting data to perform user behavior analysis. He identified and implemented critical data probes to be collected for better analysis and improved existing probes. He has also worked as a System Software Engineer at NVIDIA, where he developed Shadowplay, a gameplay sharing app with features like record, screenshot, broadcast, and coplay. He worked on multi-threaded and multi-processes features, GPU driver code, and render pipeline. He enhanced and monitored the automated software testing suite and guided an intern for the same. Ameya holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maryland. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Washington, Seattle. He has a relevant experience of 3.10 years and has expertise in research, big data, Java, software engineering, and testing.
