Amir Ahmed is a highly skilled Naval Architect with extensive experience in hydrodynamic and mooring design of offshore floating systems, including TLPs, semi-submersibles, and dredges. As a Senior Engineering Analyst at Oceaneering, he has demonstrated his expertise in Local FEA analysis of umbilical x-section and global configuration design analysis for the umbilical system. Amir's skill set includes vessel motion calculations, global performance calculation (FD & TD), wind and current coefficient calculation, vessel hydro-static calculation, and intact and damage stability analysis. He is also proficient in Single Point & Spread Mooring System design, Umbilical Local FEA, and Dynamic configuration analysis. Amir's professional experience includes working as an Assistant Manager at Vedam Design, where he was responsible for project management/execution and developing team capabilities in marine/offshore engineering analysis. He also worked on Mooring Design and Global performance motion assessment of offshore floating platforms and seagoing vessels. As a Summer Intern at Vedam Design, Amir performed the scantling calculation for a 14m FRP Patrol boat hull (to be used in Coast Guard) in accordance with ABS rules. He also carried out a preliminary feasibility study for converting a tug ship to a hopper barge of 1400 tons capacity. Amir holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He has been in the industry for 9.78 years and has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in his field.
