Amit Bar is a soon-to-be UC San Diego graduate with a passion for computer science and web development. As a fourth-year undergraduate, he has gained extensive knowledge in various areas of computer science, including front-end, back-end, and full-stack development. He has also dabbled in other areas such as machine learning and is always eager to learn new technologies and test them out. Currently working as a Software Engineer Intern at Sony, Amit has developed a FaaS that reduced the ramp-up time for dev teams to a new service from three days to three seconds. He also developed an Elastic Search index and YAML config file from a user-provided MySQL database and implemented extensible database type converters and Golang interfaces to enable the FaaS to support additional storage systems. Prior to Sony, Amit worked as a Software Engineer Intern at TikTok, where he developed a similar FaaS and designed and implemented extensible database type converters and Golang interfaces. Amit's previous experience also includes working as a Lead Frontend Engineer at Homehub, where he architected the front-end tech stack and set up development tools for the team, including ReactJS UI library, Webpack config, Sass vars/mixins, and ESLint. Amit's education history includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from UC San Diego, which he will complete in December 2022, and a High School Diploma from Agoura High School. His technical skills include software engineering, MySQL, Elastic Search, search, web development, Golang, machine learning, front-end, back-end, big data, Kafka, Spring, UI, and Java. With 1.10 years of relevant experience, Amit is a self-driven individual who loves to take on new challenges and strives to leave a lasting impact wherever he goes.
