Amit Garde is a seasoned engineering professional with over 20 years of experience in software product development, team management, and technology strategy. He specializes in distributed systems, high-scale platforms, and architecture, particularly for big data handling and processing in machine learning and artificial intelligence applications. Currently, Amit is working as an engineer at Stripe, where he is responsible for developing and managing the company's software products. Previously, he worked as the VP of Engineering, Platforms at Swiggy, where he managed platform teams that built cross-cutting software platforms and systems to support various facets of Swiggy's engineering and business operations. His responsibilities included data infrastructure, data science platform, core and runtime platform, services substrate, infrastructure/production engineering, and security. Before joining Swiggy, Amit was the Head of Engineering at Culture Machine, where he led all engineering efforts, including architecture, development, product delivery, engineering infrastructure, and personnel. He oversaw the development of two flagship products, one focused on extracting and analyzing content insights from digital media, and the other on automated synthesis of video content at scale using machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques. Amit holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science, where he was a graduate student from 2000 to 2002. He also holds a graduate degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and a bachelor's degree in Physics from Fergusson College, Pune.
