Amit Verma is a highly experienced and accomplished Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with over 15 years of experience in the technology industry. Currently, he is serving as the Principal Software Engineering Manager at Microsoft, where he leads Stream's Search & Discovery and Playlist teams. In this role, he is responsible for making videos searchable and discoverable across Office 365 and enabling customers to efficiently organize videos and audios using playlists. Prior to joining Microsoft, Amit worked as the General Manager Engineering at Paytm, where he led a team of 150+ backend and frontend engineers to build the next generation payment gateway that processes millions of transactions a day. He improved the payment success rate by analyzing user behavior, banks' success rate, and improving card routing logic. He also increased system availability by automating failover of all components, improving monitoring and alerting in the system, and scaling systems. He scaled Payment Gateway 8x to handle increased traffic. Amit's technical skills include Distributed Systems, Java, Spring, Hibernate, Redis, Kafka, ELK, and MySQL. He has also worked as a Lead Software Engineer at Ion, where he led the re-architecture of the pricing engine to enable more flexible and dynamic rules and designed the in-house ORM framework.
