Amitha Gopidi is a highly skilled Software Engineer II at Microsoft, with 4.78 years of relevant experience in the field. She is currently working at Rippling as a Software Engineer, where she is part of the team that builds the Microsoft Edge browser. Amitha has a diverse professional background, having previously worked at Young Leaders for Active Citizenship as a Policy in Action Fellow. During her time there, she worked on a policy project titled "Child adoption policies in India” for Smt. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha). Her work involved critically examining the current and historical laws and policies related to in-country adoptions in India through the lens of multiple stakeholders in the adoption process, such as Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAPs), Child Welfare Committee (CWCs), Specialized Adoption Agencies (SAAs), and the children themselves. She also offered impactful recommendations for improving the adoption process. At Microsoft, Amitha was part of the founding team that built the new Microsoft Edge browser on top of open-source Chromium. She witnessed the entire product cycle from inception to a billion users and led projects on multiple verticals of the browser, such as autofill, history, translate, webpage-tracking, read aloud any web page using ML trained voices, and other immersive reading experiences. She is also experienced in entity extraction and other ML innovations for personalized assistance in the browser, along with full-stack work. She received three promotions during her stint (level 59-62). Amitha holds a B.Tech in Computer Science and MS by Research in Exact Humanities from IIIT, where she graduated in 2018.
