Anca has worked with Expedia as a Principal Machine Learning Engineer and Senior Software Engineer at Expedia Partner Solutions (EPS). At Expedia, Anca was part of an ML accelerators team and worked closely with other engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to build solutions that utilize data and machine learning. She was the engineering lead for an ML-driven solution (using multi-armed bandits) to develop personalization of user experience and improve content relevancy. Anca also designed and deployed high-performance RESTful services and stateful stream processing jobs with reliable monitoring and logging practices to ensure data timeliness and accuracy. She built robust and dependable data pipelines that capture bandit feedback over time and continuously re-train the bandit models with the incremental user interaction data. At EPS, Anca worked to bring machine learning models into production and reduce time between model development and deployment through model serialization (MLeap) and containerization of model inference. She applied this to various use cases such as hotels sorting, alternative properties, or cross-sell recommendations. Anca also developed a data-driven, personalized alternative properties recommendations RESTful API at EPS. She was responsible for feature development and support for experimentation capabilities, A/B or MVT testing, at EPS. Anca has a BA in Computer Science and Mathematics from Vassar College and an MSc in Software Systems Engineering from University College London, U. of London.
