Andre Newland is a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer currently working at Ribbon Health, a healthcare data platform that provides accurate and comprehensive data on doctors, locations, insurance, and costs & quality of care through a seamless API layer. In his role, Andre builds out functionality for the product, improves data and distribution infrastructure, and advocates for technical excellence and a strong engineering culture to power every healthcare decision to be high-quality, cost-effective, and convenient. Before joining Ribbon Health, Andre was the Co-Founder and CTO of Tarseer, a healthcare technology startup that developed an accessible platform to reliably collect information on the eye to deepen understanding of eye function and structure and allow for the detection and monitoring of diseases. He was responsible for leading the engineering team and architecting a 100+ lines codebase, of which he contributed 101K+ additions and 48K+ deletions. Andre also raised pre-seed investment by pitching and winning several competitions such as the Tufts 100K Ventures, Ricci Milva Prize, and Startup Nation Competition. Andre is also a Data Science For All / Empowerment Fellow, where he received the best data analytics training in the world. The program, taught by instructors from top universities like Harvard and MIT, is an immersive 13-week (Saturdays only) training program in practical data skills with a 6% acceptance rate for the first cohort. Andre holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Tufts University, where he was a student from 2013 to 2017. He also attended Hackley School, where he completed his high school education from 2008 to 2013.
