Andrew Allen is an entrepreneurial-minded engineering leader and the current VP of Engineering at Helium ($HNT). With over 14 years of relevant experience, Andrew has a passion for building products that users love. He is an experienced leader of full-stack teams with a culture of shipping. Currently, he is leading the user-facing efforts for Helium's blockchain-based, decentralized machine network. Andrew's expertise lies in various technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, React Native, Elixir, Phoenix, Erlang, Electron, GraphQL, Ruby, and Rails. He has worked on several greenfield projects that evolved into core Helium products. These include two React Native apps available in both Apple and Google Play app stores, several full-stack web applications using Elixir/Phoenix, GraphQL, and React, a custom e-commerce store with NextJS built using Square and Coinbase's APIs, and Helium Blockchain Explorer. Andrew has also authored the first draft of the Helium whitepaper in July 2017, which has now become $HNT, a top ~100 market-cap cryptocurrency. Andrew holds a BA in Computer Science from Northwestern University and has attended Culver Academies. He has a strong tech stack that includes senior software engineering, blockchain, decentralized, Ruby, web, JavaScript, TypeScript, mobile, React Native, AWS, and software engineering. As the VP of Engineering at Helium, Andrew is leading the web and mobile engineering teams, where they are building a blockchain to incentivize a decentralized network of coverage for low-powered IoT devices. With his entrepreneurial mindset and passion for building user-centric products, Andrew is a valuable asset to any team.
