Andrew Brogdon is a seasoned Lead for Dart/Flutter DevRel at Google with over 12 years of relevant experience in software engineering. He is responsible for leading the Dart/Flutter developer relations team and can be found at dart.dev and flutter.dev. Andrew has a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Poetry from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English/Computer Science from Florida State University. With a diverse range of skills, Andrew has worked on various projects throughout his career. He has experience in Flutter, iOS, web, and backend development. Andrew has previously worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Hopto, where he led the host team, rebuilt it from two to four developers, and handled hiring, on-boarding, project scheduling, and system architecture. He created scripts that analyze C# data contracts and auto-generate matching classes in Java and Objective-C source code, saving weeks of work. He also created a reusable system for synchronizing arbitrary viewmodels from a C# host in EC2 to Android and iOS clients, cutting bandwidth requirements and providing a convenient interface for testing. Andrew has also worked as a Software Engineer at Residential Finance, where he cooked lunch for the marketing team and gave a presentation on the basics of software engineering, improving communication between them and IT. He created a distributed system for moving generic, long-running compute tasks from RFC’s web servers to backend machines using the Managed Extensibility Framework. He redesigned the testing architecture for RFC’s partner-facing web services, reducing the time required to write tests for a new service to just a few hours.
